Ian Coleman graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) degree in 1981. Ian is a registered architect in the state of Victoria and a member of the Australian Institute of Architects. He joined Paul McDonald & Associates Pty Ltd, a small architectural practice specialising in hospitality work in 1982 and became a partner in the growing company in 1986. The practice carried out a wide range of work including commercial, retail, residential, recreational, hospitality and heritage related projects throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. Ian was responsible for the design, documentation and contract administration of projects ranging from $10,000 to $28,000,000 in value. In 2003 the company became McDonald Coleman Architects Pty Ltd and Ian continued to manage most of the company’s larger projects while maintaining his particular interest in the heritage field. As well as undertaking a number of heritage studies with Ros Coleman, Ian provided Heritage Advisory Services to the Shire of Maldon and its successor, Mount Alexander Shire, for 19 years, to Korong (later Loddon) Shire for 6 years, and from 2011, has been the Heritage Advisor to the City of Whitehorse.
Judi Byrnes: Senior Architect

Judi Byrnes graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1994 and is a registered architect in the state of Victoria. Judi has worked at a number of architectural firms, including Green & Barbour Pty Ltd Architects, McDonald Coleman Architects, ERA2000 Architects and Flint Architects and has a strong background in design, documentation, the preparation of feasibility reports, managing the tender process, contract administration, and communication with clients, consultants, and authorities. She has undertaken a variety of residential, heritage, community, commercial and industrial projects including hospitality, retail, office, laboratory and research facilities. Clients have ranged from individual home owners and business to local and state governments. Judi joined Coleman Architects in early 2012 and is responsible for managing our architectural projects.
Kuni Mukai: Architect

Kunihiko Mukai obtained a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Melbourne in 2004 after first graduating from the Bachelor of Built Environment at the Queensland University of Technology in 2000. Kuni is a registered architect in the state of Victoria. A very experienced project documenter, Kuni has worked for a range of companies including McDonald Coleman Architects, ERA2000 Architects, CATT Architects and the Stonehenge Group. He has worked on a variety of residential, hospitality and commercial projects, as well as a number of heritage buildings with Coleman Architects Pty Ltd.
Louise Milton: Graduate Architect
Bachelor of Architecture, Masters of Architecture
Louise Milton graduated with an Masters degree from Deakin University in 2009. She completed her Masters thesis on protecting character of place in Sorrento and Queenscliff. Since graduation, she has worked at Coleman Architects and is working towards becoming a Heritage Architect. Louise previously studied physiotherapy, and worked extensively in the community with people with complex physical needs. She has also, therefore, developed an understanding of the requirements for good design for all people.
